Frequently Asked Questions

  • Online therapy works in much the same way that in-person therapy works, with the exception of our sessions taking place virtually. We will meet for video sessions on a HIPAA-compliant platform. We can have telephone sessions too, if you prefer that. Online therapy allows you to be in the comfort of your home, offering a convenient, accessible, and time-efficient alternative to driving to a therapy office.

If you prefer to meet face-to-face and live in the Bay Area, I now have an office in Los Gatos, CA.

  • My rate is $250 for a 50-55 minute session.

  • I have a certain number of insurance slots and a certain number of private pay slots.

I am in-network with Aetna and Anthem Blue Cross. I contract with these insurance providers through an online platform called Headway.

If you have a different insurance provider that I do not accept, I can provide a Superbill for you to submit for out-of-network coverage.

  • A good faith estimate is a requirement that came into effect on January 1, 2022 as part of the No Surprises Act. It applies to healthcare providers, including therapists.

In this setting, it applies to private pay clients who are not using insurance. I will provide a good faith estimate of the cost of the service(s) at the time of scheduling or whenever requested.

  • Our first appointment focuses on gathering details about your main concerns and your history. I will ask you to share a bit more about what is bringing you to therapy and also some follow-up questions based on the form you will have completed before our appointment. If we have time, we will also begin to discuss your treatment goals. There is no pressure to prepare anything specifically for this appointment, but it can help if you have some ideas about what you would like to get out of therapy. If you aren’t sure, that is okay too!

  • You probably noticed that my website talks a lot about my specialties, and maybe you don’t identify with these. Even if you don’t have medical situation or life transition you are facing, we can certainly have a phone consultation to see if we may be a good fit to work together. Sometimes talking to a few therapists helps make the decision, because a lot of it has to do with comfort and style. Of course expertise and specialization should match as well; however, a safe, comfortable relationship between therapist and client is also super important!
